Spring Checklist

____Remove storm windows and install screens
____Test air-conditioning
____Clean or replace air-conditioning filter
____Check central-air unit for debris and clean
____Caulk or fill any areas where insects may enter the house
____Wash siding
____Clean gutters and downspouts, check for leaks and cracks
____Trim bushes and trees away from house
____Install window air-conditioning units
____Clean and organize garage
____Check house for peeling paint, cracks in brick/ masonry, future roof problems.
Fix if needed
____Dust perimeter of house for ants
____Test outdoor lights and replace bulbs as needed
____Rake/ dethatch lawn
____Airate lawn
____Fertilize/ weed and feed lawn
____Check trees and other landscaping for winter damage, prune as needed
____Check drainage ditches and drain tiles for large obstructions
____Prepare soil for planting
____Add compost if needed
____Plant cold-crop vegetables
____Purchase film for Summer use
____Inspect your lawn and garden tools
____Check your garden hoses and your sprinklers or sprinkler system, if you
have one. Make sure that there are no leaks, or cracks, and that sprinkler
heads are not clogged.
____Check shovels, rakes, and other garden tools for rust or cracks on the handles.
____Clippers and lawn mowers should be checked for dull blades and
sharpened, if necessary.
____Get a head start on weed prevention. Pull any sprouted weeds and dig up tough,
perennial weeds.
____Plant annual seeds indoors now. Once they germinate, make sure they get plenty
of light by setting them under fluorescent lights or in a sunny window. Do not
plant them outside until danger of frost is past.
____Seed your lawn if it needs it
____Check the children's bikes, tires, reflectors etc.
____Make sure Bar-b-q is cleaned and ready with charcoal and lighter

RV's & AUTOMOBILES:

____Examine the RV tires closely, looking for cuts or other visible damage on both
sides of the sidewall.
____Inflate the tires to the proper pressure and inspect closely for sun-checking
damage. This refers to the small cracks that occur due to constant exposure to
the sun and other weathering agents.
____Check the tread for uneven wear on one side or the other and for other
irregularities in the wear pattern that would indicate a possible alignment or
wheel balance problem.
____Check water, battery and propane systems.
